Interest in paddle boarding:
I think paddle boarding is a great workout and is awesome for surfers because it is an activity they can do whether the waves are big or small.
Interest in beach:
I could never live a way from the beach and the type of people the beach attracts. In my opinion, the closer you get to the beach, the happier the people are and no matter what I am going through it always seems to be the perfect remedy.
What you love about San Diego:
I love that San Diego is a perfect balance of beach life and city life. You never run out of things to do here. There is great beaches, a great nightlife (shout out to the BEACHCOMBER), job opportunities, schools, shopping, restaurants, parks… you can’t go wrong here.
Bio: I am a senior at the University of San Diego, originally from Chicago, and I am majoring in Communications with a minor in English Lit. I was drawn all the way from Chi-City by San Diego’s energetic atmosphere, eclectic people, and vividly expressive fashion! I am also an avid artist (self-proclaimed) and San Diego is the perfect place to observe a whirlwind of artistic inspiration.
Activities: I studied abroad in fall 2010 in Madrid, Spain. I am a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. I write for College Fashionista as a style guru and I write my blog Quips of Expression.
Interest in paddle boarding: I love paddle boarding because it is an all-around workout, triggering nearly every muscle group in my body, and it is also a peaceful/ relaxing activity.
Interest in beach: While we all know that some Vitamin D is good for us, the beach is more like an addiction to me. The beach is a playground, a perfect place for reading, and ultimately soothing; I love being able to hear the ocean from my house!
Name: Jenna Catalona
City you live in: Denver, Colorado
Bio: I’m originally from Kent, Ohio, went to college there also. I graduated from Kent State with a degree in marketing and decided to move to Denver to start a career. I have moved around the US a lot, living in Cali for a little, Denver, finished school in Ohio, and then decided to come back to Denver. I absolutely love to travel, and spent the summer of 2010 in Paris studying French, eating lots of weird cheese, and drinking too much wine. I am currently single, and enjoying the freedom and discovering new places and meeting new people. I have two fantastically fluffy felines, and a little dog named Ruby. Animals, traveling, and French are three things I am most passionate about in my life. If I could find a job to include all three of those, I’d be the happiest girl in the world, but in the meantime I am looking to work for non-profit, ideally with an environmental and wildlife awareness focus. I am blessed, and lucky to have a beautiful family and the most wonderful group of friends. C’est la vie!
Interest in paddleboarding: I tried paddleboarding for the first time when I was visiting my friend Amy in San Diego. She took me out and I instantly got hooked! I had always wanted to try paddleboarding and was so excited when I got the opportunity. Next time I visit the coast, you’d better believe I’ll be out on a board!
Interest in the beach: There is something about walking up to the beach after you haven’t seen it for a year that almost brings tears to my eyes. Corny? I don’t even care! There is a peace, a serenity, and a calming effect that the ocean has on me, and it seems as though so many of my stresses are lifted. When I look out into the ocean, I feel humbled by how HUGE it is, and how small we all really are. Now besides all that DEEP stuff, I love the the smells (coconut oil, margaritas, and salt water), the sounds (all the seagulls and waves crashing) and the sun most of all. I come from an extremely cloudy part of the US, so the sun is like GOLD to me! I love everything about the beach. I could spend all day, every day on the beach. Not to mention, it’s a guaranteed good hair day, everyday.

Jen Poisson, Wetsi, Laguna Hills CA, Owner
About your company and how it relates to SUP.
Wetsi designs and distributes technical activewear for the female boardsport enthusiast. The company’s name is derived from several influences, women, water, environment, trust, sun and inspiration. Inspired by SUP and Yoga our designs resemble activewear but are made from 1mm, 4way stretch neoprene allowing for freedom of movement, water and wind repellent factors with a fashion forward approach.
How do you use SUP? Training? Fun? Exercise?
All of the above. I originally started to do SUP for exercise and just to get out on the water. I started paddling the bays in Newport, as I became comfortable on the board I moved to the ocean. Most recently I learned to Surf and this has been the best experience yet!
How was your first time paddle boarding?
A lot easier than it looked. My personal trainer and I rented boards from Costa Azul in Laguna Beach. Rod Green took us out. I picked it up a lot faster than Joe (my trainer) did. He was in and out of the water the hole time and couldn’t keep up. I instantly took to the sport.
What made you want to return to the sport?
I’m working out on the beach a lot, mostly because I love the outdoors and the ocean just grounds me. Paddling really puts your mind in tune with the air, water, and wind. Similar to yoga, you feel relaxed and I get a high from it.
What makes your company stand out?
Wetsi products are unique in design and we truly care about the women’s physique. We are also a USA brand, bringing fashion and function to the water.
