Name: Alyssa Gallagher – University of San Diego ’12
Bio: I grew up in Billings, Montana, so I am of course a small-town country girl at heart. I am the only girl in a family of two boys, and I am right in the middle. I grew up in the out doors, fishing, hiking, boating, water-skiing, snow-sking, you name it. I knew I wanted to live in California since I was little girl, and have lived here for the past 3 and a half years. Dancing and painting are my two biggest passions. I have been a dancer since I could walk, anything from ballet to hip hop. I also played Volleyball in high school. I was able to spend a semester abroad in Italy painting. I hope to one day be a professor at a University.
Major/Minor: Accounting, Minor in Economics
Activities: Study Abroad in Florence, Italy, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, USD Dance Company, USD Alcala Club, University Ministry, USD Spirit Team, Accounting Tutor, Dance Instructor.
Interest in paddle boarding: My interest in paddle boarding began in the past year, when I was looking for something unique to do while also getting a great work out in! Paddle boarding is full body workout that strengthens you, gives you a great cardio work out, while also improving balance. Its the perfect blend of working out while also being in a tranquil, beautiful environment right on the water.
Interest in beach: My friend and I live right on the beach, so it has become a huge part of my life. Ever since I was little I have loved playing in the waves, body-boarding, wakeboarding in the bay, anything involving water. The beach has the ability to bring out a calmness in people that most things can’t. The sound of those waves, the rippling tide, in never fails to make people stop and just breath and take it in.
What you love about San Diego: I am in love with this city! I grew up with a small-town up-bringing in Montana, which I love, but it is so much different than San Diego. San Diego is the perfect balance of beautiful beaches, a laid back healthy and active lifestyle, with fun nightlife and amazing restaurants.
